Montrell Carmouche

Montrell Carmouche is a member of the executive team and is responsible for establishing program direction for client services and adherence to the organization’s client-centered philosophy of service delivery. She leads Operation Freedom, which creates new ways to address collective liberation and freedom through the Safety & Freedom Fund – a community bail fund posts bonds on behalf of people who are incarcerated solely because they are poor.
Montrell has a demonstrated passion and commitment for social justice. She works closely with local, regional and national partners to advance criminal justice reform and is an active member of the National Bail Fund Network and the Louisiana Incarcerated Women's Task Force. In 2021, Montrell was named one of the inaugural justice fellows for The Education Trust, in addition to being an EPIC Ambassador with the Ladies of Hope Ministries. She was awarded the 2022 Black Voices for Black Justice Award and is also one of two formerly incarcerated women registered as a lobbyist in the State of Louisiana.
In addition, Montrell is the Founder & Chief Executive Officer of her own consulting firm that specializes in program design, facilitation and civic engagement. She has extensive experience facilitating various meetings, convenings and trainings, and her facilitation style engages participants in creating, discovering and applying learning insights to their everyday lives. Montrell’s lived experience has truly led her to dedicate her professional career to supporting formerly incarcerated people like herself to achieve their dreams.
